Max Holloway made his first successful UFC featherweight title defense at last weekend’s UFC 218 event in Detroit defeating Jose Aldo via third-round TKO.
With the win, the proud Hawaiian extended his current win streak to twelve in a row and solidified himself as one of mixed martials arts pound-for-pound best fighters.
Holloway was originally expected to face former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar at UFC 218, however “The Answer” was forced to pullout of the fight with an injury.
So what is next for “Blessed”?
Obviously Frankie Edgar is a logical choice to be Holloway’s next opponent.
But don’t rule out former division champion Conor McGregor.
The UFC’s biggest star and current lightweight champion, McGregor, threw shade at Holloway following his victory over Aldo on December 2.
Max quickly returned fire at McGregor by calling him a “retired fighter who enjoys looking back at his past accomplishments”.
Holloway and McGregor met way back in 2013, with Conor emerging victorious via unanimous decision.
“Mystic Mac” is expected to unify his lightweight title with current interim champ Tony Ferguson in his next octagon appearance.
However, McGregor has been outspoken about Ferguson’s lack of drawing power and a rematch with Holloway seems to be a more favourable fight/payday for the Irishman.
Who would you like to see Max Holloway fight next?
