Hard-hitting UFC light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado (21-6 MMA, 4-3 UFC) will move up to the heavyweight division in order to replace the injured Junior dos Santos against Stipe Miocic at this month’s ‘TUF Brazil 3 Finale’ event in Sao Paulo.

The news comes just days after former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos was forced to pull out of the event headliner with a broken hand.

Fabio Maldonado is currently riding an impressive 3-fight win streak, with his latest victory coming against Gian Villante at March’s ‘UFC Fight Night 38’ event in Natal, Brazil. Prior to his war with Villante, Maldonado earned a split-decision win over fellow slugger Joey Beltran at ‘UFC Fight Night 29’ in October of 2013.

Meanwhile, Stipe Miocic (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) will be looking to earn his third straight octagon victory when he faces Maldonado at the end of the month. Miocic was most recently seen in action at January’s ‘UFC on FOX 10’ event, where he earned a lopsided decision win over former title challenger Gabriel Gonzaga. Prior to that, Miocic roughed-up Roy Nelson at UFC 161 in Winnipeg, earning a unanimous decision victory over the bearded-brawler.

The ‘TUF Brazil 3 Finale’ takes place May 31 live from Sao Paulo’s Ibirapuera Gymnasium. The evening’s main card airs on FOX Sports 1, following the preliminary bouts which stream on UFC Fight Pass.

Be sure to come watch the ‘TUF Brazil 3 Finale’ May 31st at one of Kauai’s Kalapaki Joe’s locations!
