The Carolina Panthers will invade CenturyLink Field this Saturday night to faceoff with defending Super Bowl Champions the Seattle Seahawks.

Carolina is coming off a 27-16 home victory which they earned over the Arizona Cardinals in last weekend’s Wild Card game.

That playoff win marked the Panthers fifth-consecutive victory. The teams last loss came in Week 13 on the road against Minnesota.

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has returned to the form that earned him the nickname “Superman.”

The Carolina pivot has played remarkably in recent weeks, running and throwing the ball with equal success.

In order to defeat the Seahawks, the Panthers will need solid performances from running backs Jonathon Stewart and DeAngelo Williams.

Led by linebacker Luke Kuechly, the Panthers have allowed just 59 total points against during their current 5-game win streak.

Meanwhile, the Seattle Seahawks (12-4) will be looking to become the first NFL team to repeat as Super Bowl Champions since the New England Patriots.

Seattle is currently riding a 6-game winning streak, their last ‘W’ coming against the St. Louis Rams in Week 17.

Since the return of linebacker Bobby Wagner, Seattle’s defense looks to have returned to the form that saw them dominate the competition on route to last year’s Super Bowl.

The Seahawks have a terrific defense which includes Pro Bowl corner Richard Sherman and fellow Pro Bowler Earl Thomas at safety.

On offense, Seattle boasts one of the NFL’s best young quarterbacks in Russell Wilson, as well as one of the league’s top running backs in Marshawn Lynch.

Seattle is a tough place to play for any team, as the Seahawks have only suffered two home losses in the past 2 seasons.

Carolina and Seattle met earlier this year, with the Seahawks earning a 13-9 win on a last second touchdown score.

Las Vegas currently has Seattle pegged as -10.5 favorites, with the over/under set at 40 total points.

I don’t think Carolina will be able to defeat Seattle on Saturday evening, but I do think they will cover the spread.

I predict Seattle wins by a final score of 16-9.
