The Pittsburgh Penguins have taken a nose dive in recent weeks and now find themselves in danger of missing this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Penguins currently hold the Eastern Conference’s first wild card spot with 96 points to their name, and have 2 games remaining in this year’s regular season.
Behind Pittsburgh sits both the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators, who each have 95 total points as well as 2 games remaining.
It’s hard to believe that Pittsburgh finds themselves in what is now a must-win situation, considering the Pens were leading the Metropolitan Division at the season’s half-way point.
Pittsburgh has gone 3-5-2 in their past 10 games, losing a couple of heartbreakers this past week.
The Pens are missing 2 of their key defenseman, including all-star Kris Letang, which hasn’t helped their cause.
Pittsburgh will host the New York Islanders on Friday night and will be looking for captain Sidney Crosby to lead the way.
Sid “The Kid” has played excellent in recent games, but even his efforts haven’t propelled the Penguins to the promise land.
