The Minnesota Wild defeated the St. Louis Blues by a final score of 4-1 on Sunday afternoon, thus advancing to the second-round of this year’s NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Minnesota captain Zach Parise scored 2 goals in yesterday’s win, including a key short-handed goal in the game’s opening period.
Goaltender Davan Dubnyk had another sensational game for Minnesota, stopping 30 of the 31 shots the Blues put his way.
The Wild will now face division rivals the Chicago Blackhawks in round #2 of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Blackhawks have knocked Minnesota out of the post-season in both of the past two playoffs seasons.
Last year, Chicago and Minnesota met in the second-round of the playoffs, with the Blackhawks winning the series in six games.
The Wild will be hoping that the third time is the charm against a Blackhawks team that has won 2 of the past 5 Stanley Cup Championships.
