The NHL’s top goal scorer, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, suffered a concussion during game three of last night’s game in Pittsburgh and has been ruled out of Wednesday’s game four against the Washington Capitals.
The injury occurred during the first period of yesterday’s game in Pittsburgh after Crosby suffered a head shot from Capitals defenseman Matt Niskanen.
The Penguins star forward, Crosby, led all NHL players in goals scored during the regular season with 44.
Despite missing a handful of regular season games, “Sid the Kid” managed to finish second in the regular season points race, trailing only Edmonton Oilers forward Conor McDavid.
The Penguins lost last night’s game three 3-2 in overtime and now lead their best of seven series with the Capitals 2 games to 1.
Game four takes place Wednesday night in Pittsburgh before the series returns to Washington for game five on Saturday night.
