Broncos acquire Vernon Davis from 49ers!‏

The Denver Broncos (7-0) have acquired tight end Vernon Davis and a 2016 seventh-round pick from the San Francisco 49ers (2-6) in exchange for the Broncos’ sixth-round picks in both 2016 and 2017.

The two-time Pro Bowler has 411 receptions for 5,640 yards and 55 touchdowns in his career.

Davis should make an immediate impact in Denver’s offense, who finally hit their stride last Sunday against Green Bay.

Vernon Davis had only hauled in 18 receptions this year with San Francisco and has not caught a touchdown in 2015.

Davis is expected to start for Denver this Sunday when the team travels to Indianapolis to battle the Colts.

Broncos destroy Packers to remain undefeated!

Broncos destroy Packers to remain undefeated!

The Denver Broncos (7-0) scored a huge 29-10 home victory over the previously undefeated Green Bay Packers (6-1) on last night’s edition of Sunday Night Football.

The victory improved Denver’s regular season record to a perfect 7-0, which marks the first time since 1998 (when they last won the Super Bowl) that the Broncos have started a regular season with seven-straight wins.

Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning put to rest any talks that he could no longer throw the ‘deep ball’, as he was able to connect with wideout Demaryius Thomas for 8 catches totaling 168 yards.

Although Manning did not throw any TD’s, the 39-year-old did complete 21 of 29 pass attempts for 340 yards.

Denver was able to run all over the Green Bay’s defense last night at Mile High Stadium.

C.J. Anderson carried the ball 14 times for 101 yards and a touchdown, while Ronnie Hillman added 60 yards on 19 carries plus 2 touchdown scores.

The Broncos defense proved to be the league’s best yesterday evening, frustrating Aaron Rodgers for the full 60 minutes while allowing just 10 points.

With the victory, Denver joins Cincinnati, Carolina and New England as the only undefeated teams left in the NFL.

Broncos vs. Chiefs Thursday Night Football Preview

Broncos vs. Chiefs Thursday Night Football Preview

By: Chris Taylor (Kalapaki Joe’s Staff  Writer)

The Denver Broncos (1-0) will invade Arrowhead Stadium this evening to battle the Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) in Week 2’s edition of Thursday Night Football.

Denver’s season opener against the Baltimore resulted in a grueling defensive battle, which the Broncos won by a final score of 19-13.

Denver quarterback Peyton Manning struggled in Week 1, completing just 24 of 40 passes for 175 yards, no touchdowns and one interception which was returned for a TD.

Manning was under intense pressure all game against the Ravens defense, allowing 4 sacks and being hit on five separate occasions.

The Broncos offensive line will have to perform better against a Kansas City squad who is known for their ability to get to the quarterback.

Denver running back Ronnie Hillman will be looking for a better individual performance in Week 2, as he ran for just 41 yards on 12 carries last week against the Ravens.

The good news for Denver fans is that Peyton Manning has gone a perfect 6-0 against the Chiefs since joining the Broncos three years ago.

The Broncos defense also looked very good last week versus Baltimore, and will need another solid performance if they hope to upset the Chiefs at home in Arrowhead.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs earned an impressive 27-20 road victory in their season opener last week against the Houston Texans.

Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith tallied three touchdown passes in the opening half against a Texans-D who was expected to give opposing offenses fits this season.

Tight End Travis Kelce recorded 106 receiving yards and 2 touchdown scores in Week 1 and will be looking to carry that momentum in to tonight’s game versus the Broncos.

Kansas City’s star running back Jamaal Charles failed to have a breakout game in Week 1, recording just 57 yards on 16 rushing attempts. But, I expect him to do better tonight against the Broncos.

The Chiefs defense were at the feisty best last week, recording five sacks and hitting quarterback Brian Hoyer on six separate occasions.

I expect that Justin Houston and company will have another big week against a Denver offensive line that struggled last week with the Ravens.

Las Vegas currently has the Chiefs pegged as -3 point favorites.

I expect that Kansas City will finally break the Peyton Manning curse and win tonight’s game by a final score of 24-20.

Broncos sign Demaryius Thomas to a five-year deal‏

Broncos sign Demaryius Thomas to a five-year deal‏

Not even an hour after the Dallas Cowboys had inked Dez Bryant to a new deal, the Denver Broncos announced that they had come to terms with their star wideout Demaryius Thomas.

Thomas signed a five-year deal with the Broncos that includes $35 million in guaranteed money and a $17.5 million signing bonus.

Thomas, who set a single-season franchise record for receiving yards in 2014, has put together three-straight 1,400-plus-yard campaigns and a whopping 41 touchdowns in five seasons since Denver made him the 22nd overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft.

The news will come as a relief to Broncos fans, who are hoping that veteran quarterback Peyton Manning has at least one more Super Bowl run left in him before calling it a career.

New Broncos coach Gary Kubiak now has his offense in place, so it will be interesting to see what type of numbers Denver can produce this season.
