The Minnesota Vikings made Kirk Cousins the highest paid player in the NFL on Thursday, signing the quarterback to a monstrous 3-year deal worth $84 million in guaranteed cash.

Cousins joins a Vikings team that went deep into the playoffs last season, which culminated in a disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship.

“I look forward to playing here,” Cousins said during his introductory news conference Thursday. “As [general manager Rick [Spielman] said yesterday, this is a lifetime deal. That’s the goal. Yes, it’s a three-year deal but the expectation is from both sides that we’d raise our kids here and if everything goes as planned that I’d be here a long, long time.”

Cousins will have plenty of weapons to choose from in Minnesota including receivers Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. In addition, Kirk will be able to handoff the ball to dynamic running back Dalvin Cook in the 2018-2019 season.
