A lightweight scrap between former division title holder Anthony Pettis and perennial contender Jim Miller has been added to July’s UFC 213 pay-per-view event in Las Vegas.
BJPENN.com’s Chris Taylor confirmed the news with Miller himself, this after an initial report from Brazilian news outlet Combate.
Jim Miller was last seen in action at February’s UFC 208 event in Brooklyn where he suffered a decision loss to Dustin Poirier.
Prior to the setback, Miller had reeled off three-straight victories over Takanori Gomi, Joe Lauzon and most recently Thiago Alves.
The lightweight veteran, Miller, holds a professional mixed martial arts record of 28-9.
Meanwhile, Anthony Pettis was most recently seen in action at UFC 206 this past December, where he suffered the first TKO loss of his career at the hands of Max Holloway.
“Showtime” failed to make weight for his interim featherweight title fight against “Blessed” at UFC 206, and has now opted to return to the promotions lightweight division which he once ruled.
Anthony has gone 1-4 over his past five fights, with his lone victory in that time coming via submission over Charles Oliveira this past August.
Who do you think will emerge victorious in this exciting lightweight scrap between Miller and Pettis?

Yesterday, it was announced that Bellator MMA Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez (25-3 MMA) had been released by the Viacom-owned promotion.
The UFC wasted little time signing the coveted free agent, as Zuffa officials announced that they had inked Alvarez to a deal just hours after his release from Bellator.
UFC officials also added that Alvarez will make his octagon debut at next month’s UFC 178 pay-per-view event in Las Vegas against surging lightweight contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
As we had previously reported, Cerrone was originally slated to face Bobby Green at the UFC 178 event. However, UFC officials scrapped that fight in order to make the Alvarez vs. Cerrone booking. Green will now be moved to a different fall fight card, against a yet to be announced opponent.
Eddie Alvarez was last seen in action at November’s Bellator 106 event, where he reclaimed the Bellator lightweight title by defeating his nemesis Michael Chandler via judges split-decision. Prior to that, Eddie had scored back-to-back KO victories over opponents Patricky Freire and Shinya Aoki respectively. Alvarez has gone 10-1 in his past eleven mixed martials arts bouts.
Meanwhile, Donald Cerrone (24-6 MMA, 11-3 UFC) is looking to build on his already impressive four-fight win streak. “Cowboy” was last seen in action in the headlining bout of last month’s “UFC Fight Night 45” event, where he scored a head kick KO victory over the always dangerous Jim Miller. That win earned Cerrone his fourth-straight “Performance of the night” award, and marked the fighters fourth finish in as many fights.
UFC 178 takes place September 27 live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by a flyweight title fight featuring champion Demetrious Johnson taking on challenger Chris Cariaso.
