Saints Adrian Peterson discusses facing his former team in Week 1

By: Chris Taylor (Kalapaki Joe’s Staff Writer)

Former NFL MVP Adrian Peterson was cut loose by the Minnesota Vikings this past February, thus becoming a free agent.

After speaking with numerous teams, including the Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks, “All Day” opted to sign on with the NFC South New Orleans Saints.

Today, Peterson spoke about how excited he is to play behind legendary quarterback Drew Brees and how he feels about playing his former team, the Minnesota Vikings, in Week 1 of this year’s NFL Regular Season.

“Envisioning myself in the backfield with Drew Brees it was like ‘Wow, what will opposing teams do?'”

As for playing his long-time team the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1, Peterson says it was just meant to be.

“It was meant to be.”

Peterson and the New Orleans Saints will invade Minnesota for Monday Night Football on September 11.

Colts vs. Panthers Monday Night Football Preview

The Indianapolis Colts (3-4) will invade Bank of America Stadium this evening to battle Cam Newton and the undefeated Carolina Panthers (6-0) in Week 8’s edition of Monday Night Football.

Carolina has been a huge surprise this season, as many experts thought the team was doomed after losing star wideout Kelvin Benjamin early this year.

Cam Newton has proved his skeptics wrong all season long and is currently being talked about for MVP of the league honors.

“Superman” has completed 101 of 181 pass attempts for 1275 yards and 9 touchdowns through the first six games of the 2015 regular season.

The star pivot has also rushed the football 54 times for 254 yards and 4 touchdown scores.

The Panthers defense is one of the league’s best, and is arguably the best in the NFC.

Last week, Carolina held the high powered Philadelphia Eagles offense to a mere 16 points.

Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts have been one of the league’s biggest disappointments to start this season.

The Colts, who were Super Bowl favorites at the start of the year, will be lucky to even make the playoffs after a 3-4 start.

Andrew Luck has been far from great in 2015, throwing 9 interceptions against just 11 touchdowns.

The highly touted pivot has been injured with fractured ribs the last three weeks.

The Colts defense has been better in recent weeks but are still struggling overall.

Las Vegas currently has Carolina pegged as -7 point favorites with the over/under set at 45.5 points.

I think Carolina will use there stout defense and strong run game to easily defeat Indianapolis by a final score of 27-16.

Broncos at Bengals Monday Night Football Preview‏

The Denver Broncos will invade Cincinnati this evening to battle the Bengals in Week 16’s edition of Monday Night Football.

The Denver Broncos (11-3) clinched a playoff berth last week by defeating the Chargers in San Diego.

If the Broncos can defeat the Bengals on Monday Night, they will be guaranteed a first-round bye in this year’s playoffs.

Denver can still earn home field advantage throughout the AFC Playoffs, but they will need a little help to do so.

Denver will need to win their next two games and hope that New England loses one of their remaining 2 games.

The Broncos have won 4 games in a row coming in to tonight’s primetime game, with their most recent loss coming to the St. Louis Rams in Week 11.

Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bengals (9-4-1) currently hold down a AFC playoff spot, but will need to win at least 1 of their 2 remaining games if they hope to keep it.

The Bengals are coming off a 30-0 thrashing of the Cleveland Browns in Week 15.

The victory marked Cincinnati’s fourth win in their past 5 games.

Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton has struggled for the better portion of this season. Even in last week’s 30-0 beat down of the Brownies, Dalton only threw for 117 yards and had a QB rating of 53.6.

Cincinnati will need Dalton to play at his very best if they hope to defeat the Broncos at home on Monday night.

If the Bengals are unsuccessful in their attempt to beat the Broncos, they will be put in to a must-win situation when they travel to Pittsburgh to battle the Steelers next week.

Las Vegas currently has Denver pegged -3.5 favorites, with the over/under set at 47.5 points.

Peyton Manning has had another MVP-like season, throwing for 37 touchdowns and over 4,000 passing yards in 14 games this year.

Unlike Peyton Manning, Andy Dalton has struggled in prime time games throughout his career with the Bengals.

I expect that this trend will continue for Dalton when he faces the Denver Broncos while under the bright lights of Monday Night Football.

I predict that Denver will defeat the Bengals by a final score of 27-20.

Saints at Bears Monday Night Football Preview

The New Orleans Saints will travel to Chicago tonight to battle the Bears in Week 15’s edition of Monday Night Football.

The New Orleans Saints (5-8) and Chicago Bears (5-8) have the same record through 13 games this season, the only difference is the Saints still have a chance at making the playoffs.

New Orleans is lucky enough to be a part of the lowly NFC South division, which is currently led by the Carolina Panthers (5-8-1).

A victory in tonight’s game against the Bears at Soldier Field would catapult the Saints in to their divisions top spot.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees has had an off year to say the least. The former NFL MVP is coming off a terrible performance in Week 14, which saw Brees have a season-low 69.7 passer rating in a 41-10 home loss to the Carolina Panthers.

The eight time Pro Bowler should be able to have a better showing against Chicago’s 29th ranked defense tonight.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears have also had an extremely disappointing season.

“Da Bears” were expected to contend for the NFC North Title this year, however, the strong play of the Packers and Lions have left Chicago as the odd man out.

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has had a tough year, leading the NFL with 15 interceptions to date.

Chicago has plenty of weapons on offense, but for whatever reason, Jay Cutler, Matt Forte, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey have just failed to produce this season.

Despite their struggles, both Brees and Cutler should be able to have big days against the opposing defenses they will face tonight.

Las Vegas currently has New Orleans pegged as -3 point favorites with the over/under set at 54 points.

I think Chicago comes to play tonight and will defeat the Saints by a final score of 33-31.
