Patriots clinch playoff berth with win over Texans!

The New England Patriots (11-2) defeated the Houston Texans (6-7) by a final score of 27-6 in last night’s edition of Sunday Night Football and clinched an AFC playoff spot in the process.

Tom Brady completed 22 of 30 passes for 226 yards and 2 touchdown scores in the win.

The victory snapped a two-game losing skid for the Pats, who had dropped games to the Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos in the past two weeks.

New England will play their next two games at home against the Tennessee Titans and New York Jets, this before closing out Week 17 on the road against the Miami Dolphins.

Do you think New England can repeat as Super Bowl Champions this season?

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New England Patriots Preview

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New England Patriots Preview

By: Chris Taylor (Kalapaki Joe’s Staff Writer)

The defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots will kick off the 2015 NFL regular season at home tonight when they play host to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Pats and Steelers last met in 2013, with New England winning at home by a final score of 55-31.

The Patriots will have their star quarterback Tom Brady under center tonight in Foxborough, who will likely be carrying a chip on his shoulder in to tonight’s game.

New England will be without the services of starting running back LeGarrette Blount tonight, as he is currently serving a suspension.

Expect Rob Gronkowski to have a big game tonight, as he is facing a Steelers defense who struggled for the better part of the 2014 season.

On defense the Pats will look a lot different from last season. The Pats lost corners Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner, as well as defensive tackle Vince Wilfork this offseason.

Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be looking to play spoiler at Gillette Stadium this evening.

The Steelers have split their last four meetings with the Pats, earning a 33-10 road victory seven years ago in New England.

Ben Roethlisberger will likely be throwing the ball a lot this evening, as Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell is out for the first two games of the season for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.

Pittsburgh’s star receiver Antonio Brown should have a big game tonight against a questionable Pats secondary.

The Steelers have gone 7-2 against the spread in their last nine games as road underdogs.

Las Vegas currently has New England pegged as a -6.5 point favorite, with the over/under listed as 54.5 points.

This game has the potential to be a shootout, as both teams sport amazing offenses and lackluster defenses.

I predict that the Patriots will win this game by a final score of 34-23.

Judge nullifies Tom Brady’s four-game suspension

Judge nullifies Tom Brady’s four-game suspension

Tom Brady will be under center when the New England Patriots host the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL’s season opening game on September 10 in Foxborough.

U.S. District Judge Richard Berman nullified Brady’s four-game suspension earlier today, citing that there was no proof that the former NFL MVP had any knowledge of inappropriate ball deflation.

The ruling served as a clear victory for Brady, who had apparently considered accepting a one-game suspension previously, as per NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

The defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots will now be a 6-point favorite when they play host to the Pittsburgh Steelers next week.

The NFL Players Association, which aided in Brady’s defense, released the following statement regarding Brady’s victory on Thursday morning:

“The rights of Tom Brady and all of the NFL players under the collective bargaining agreement were affirmed today by a Federal Judge in a court of the NFL’s choosing. We thank Judge Berman for his time, careful consideration of the issue and fair and just result.”

“This decision should prove, once and for all, that our Collective Bargaining Agreement does not grant the commissioner the authority to be unfair, arbitrary or misleading. We are happy for the victory of the rule of law for our players and our fans.”

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell later announced that the NFL would appeal the judge’s decision.

Veteran wide-receiver Reggie Wayne has signed a one-year deal with the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.

The news was first reported by ESPN.

Wayne had 64 receptions for 779 yards and 2 touchdowns with the Colts last season, but the team announced in March that they would not be resigning the former Pro Bowl wideout.

Reggie Wayne was selected in the first-round of the 2001 NFL Draft by Indianapolis and has produced some amazing memories and one Super Bowl Championship with the Colts franchise.

Wayne will now start a new chapter of his career when he dawns the uniform of AFC rival New England.

The fourteen-year vet will join a Pats receiving core which features Julian Edelman, Brandon LaFell, Danny Amendola and Aaron Dobson.
