Peterson: This is ‘best offense I’ve played in’

Peterson: This is ‘best offense I’ve played in’

By: Chris Taylor

The Minnesota Vikings hired Norv Turner to be the teams offensive coordinator during the 2013 offseason and the move seems to be paying off already.

Not only are the Vikings putting up points with ease so far this preseason, but former NFL MVP Adrian Peterson couldn’t be happier with the Turner-led offense. His words:

“I’ve been watching the offense the last few games, and it’s like, ‘Man, they don’t even need me,'” he said, per The Star Tribune. “Teams are going to have to play more honest. If they do stack the box, we’ll beat them with the passing game.”

The Vikings receiver set is the best it’s been in years. Cordarrelle Patterson is set to have a breakout season as Minnesota’s #1 receiver, while veteran Greg Jennings backs him up in the #2 spot. In addition, Kyle Rudolph is showing he has all the skills to be a Pro-Bowl tight-end in the NFL.

With Matt Cassel under center, Adrian Peterson says this is the best offense he’s ever played in:

“This is going to be the best offense I’ve played in,” Peterson said. “This is the offense I’ve been waiting for. We’ve got the pieces to facilitate moving the ball around. When Brett Favre was here, listen, when I saw those deep balls going up and guys making big plays, I was like, ‘Yeah!’ That makes your team very scary.”

The Vikings will look to showcase their new offense in week 1 versus the St. Louis Rams.

Browns Josh Gordon has appeal denied, suspended one season‏

Browns Josh Gordon has appeal denied, suspended one season‏

By: Chris Taylor

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport broke the news today that Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Josh Gordon has been suspended by the NFL for the entire 2014 season for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.

According to the report, there is no avenue in which Gordon can appeal and be reinstated.

That’s horrible news for Cleveland Browns fans, as Gordon led all NFL wide-outs with 1,646-yards receiving last season.

The Pro-Bowl receiver released the following statement following the news of his suspension:

“I’d like to apologize to my teammates, coaches, the Cleveland Browns organization and our fans,” Gordon said in a statement. “I am very disappointed that the NFL and its hearing office didn’t exercise better discretion and judgment in my case.”

Without Josh Gordon in the lineup, the Browns offense will undoubtedly struggle. Cleveland will be forced to rely on the arm of newly named starting QB Brian Hoyer, as well as the hands of Pro-Bowl tight-end Jordan Cameron.

Packers B.J. Raji out for season with torn bicep

Packers B.J. Raji out for season with torn bicep

By: Chris Taylor

The Green Bay Packers lost a major part of their defense over the weekend, as ProBowl nose tackle B.J. Raji suffered a torn right bicep against the Oakland Raiders on Friday night.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport broke the news on Saturday that the 2009 draft pick would miss the entire 2014 regular season.

The 28-year-old had signed a 1-year $4 million contract with the Packers this offseason.

Raji’s on field play had began to diminish in recent years, but the Packers were still counting on having him clog up the middle in their defensive scheme.

Without Raji, Green Bay will turn to second-year pro Josh Boyd and rookie Mike Pennel to fill in the void.
