Vikings’ Peterson indicted in child injury case, will not play Sunday

Vikings’ Peterson indicted in child injury case, will not play Sunday

By: Chris Taylor

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday that Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was indicted on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child.

As a result of the news, The Vikings announced that “All Day” had been deactivated from the roster, meaning he will not play in Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.

According to the grand jury indictment (as provided by, an incident involving Peterson and “bodily injury to a child” occurred in May. An unknown police department called the City of Houston Police Department with a complaint of child endangerment, and Houston referred it to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office where the alleged case occurred.

Montgomery County then investigated a complaint and referred the case to the district attorney. The DA then handed the case to the grand jury.

A source told Rapoport that Peterson has already testified in front of a grand jury. The investigation has been going on for some time.

Peterson’s case will be reviewed by the NFL under the personal conduct policy, per league spokesperson Brian McCarthy.

“He used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in East Texas,” Hardin said in a statement. “Adrian has never hidden from what happened. He has cooperated fully with authorities and voluntarily testified before the grand jury for several hours. Adrian will address the charges with the same respect and responsiveness he has brought to this inquiry from its beginning.”

Steve Smith looks reborn in Ravens offense

Steve Smith looks reborn in Ravens offense

By: Chris Taylor

Earlier this year, the Carolina Panthers decided to part ways with veteran wide receiver Steve Smith, who had spent an amazing 13-years with the organization.

The 35-year-old ended up signing with the Baltimore Ravens this offseason and has since put on 2 fantastic regular season performances with the squad.

In game 1 of the 2014 NFL regular season, Smith pulled in 7 receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown against a stellar Cincinnati Bengals defense.

In last night’s edition of Thursday Night Football, Steve had another impressive performance, catching 6 passes for 71 yards, while making some key blocks to help establish the Ravens run game.

The Ravens signed Steve Smith to a 3-year deal this summer, in order to replace the void left by Anquan Boldin.

That signing looks to be one of the best free agent moves made this offseason, as Smith currently leads the league in both receptions (13) and receving yards (189).

Steve Smith and the Ravens will invade his old stomping grounds in Carolina for a key Week 4 mathcup on September 28.
