Manuel out, Orton in as Bills starting QB‏

Kyle Orton will be the Buffalo Bills (2-2) starting quarterback when the team travels to Detroit to play the Lions this Sunday.

Head coach Doug Marrone announced the news on Monday, stating the following to members of the media:

“I didn’t ask (the front office) for an agreement,” Marrone said, via ESPN.com. “I just went in and said this is the direction I’m going.”

Marrone wouldn’t commit to Orton being the starter for the remainder of the 2014 season, but insisted that the Bills needed a change:

“(We) can’t keep going in direction that we’re going,” Marrone said.

The Bills first-round draft pick in 2013, EJ Manuel, had a horrible week 4 performance against the Texans. Manuel threw 2 interceptions in the loss, including an 80-yard pick-six to J.J. Watt.

Meanwhile, veteran quarterback Kyle Orton signed a 2-year, $11 million deal with the Bills in August. The former Cowboy and Bronco will make his first start for the Bills organization this Sunday in Detroit.

Patriots at Chiefs Monday Night Football Preview‏

Patriots at Chiefs Monday Night Football Preview‏

By: Chris Taylor

The New England Patriots (2-1) will travel to Kansas City tonight to take on the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium for this week’s edition of Monday Night Football.

New England is coming off a 16-9 victory over the lowly Oakland Raiders in Week 3.

Tom Brady has played decent through 3 games this season, throwing for 632 yards and 3 touchdowns thus far.

Those numbers are way down compared to year’s past, but this is clearly a different New England offense.

The Patriots defense has allowed just 273 yards per game so far this season, which is good for third-best in the NFL.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs (1-2) are coming off their first win of the 2014 NFL season, this by defeating the Dolphins last week in Miami by a final score of 34-15.

Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith threw for 186 and 3 touchdowns in that game, while running-back Knile Davis posted 132 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

The Patriots have gone 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 trips to Arrowhead, while the Chiefs have gone 0-5 against the spread in their last 5 games as home favorites.

I think this game stays close for the better part of 4 quarters, but Tom Brady will get the job done in the final minutes.

My prediction is a 27-24 win for New England.

Cowboys Claiborne out for year with torn patellar tendon‏

Cowboys Claiborne out for year with torn patellar tendon‏

Morris Claiborne’s 2014 NFL season has come to an end. The Dallas Cowboys corner suffered a torn patellar tendon in Sunday night’s victory over the New Orleans Saints.

Cowboys executive Stephen Jones confirmed the news during a radio appearance on Monday.

Claiborne was having a disappointing season prior to getting injured. The 6th overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft had recently been benched for his poor play.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had recently called-out his high-priced corner, saying he expected better from Claiborne.

Unfortunately for the already injury plagued Cowboys, Claiborne’s “better” will have to wait until 2015.

Giants vs. Redskins Thursday Night Preview‏

Giants vs. Redskins Thursday Night Preview‏

The New York Giants (1-2) travel to Washington tonight to battle their NFC East division rivals the Redskins in Week 4’s edition of Thursday Night Football.

The Washington Redskins (1-2) return home after losing a heartbreaker to the Eagles last Sunday in Philly.

Washington lost their starting quarterback Robert Griffin lll to an injury (dislocated ankle) in the first quarter of that game, but backup Kirk Cousins came in and played very well as a replacement.

Cousins will be looking to build off his 3 touchdown, 427 yard performance that he put up against the Eagles when he faces the Giants defense tonight at Fed Ex Field.

Meanwhile, the Giants are coming off their first win of the 2014 NFL season, this by defeating the Texans last week in front of their home crowd.

Eli Manning avoided throwing an interception for the first time in 2014, and was able to find wideout Victor Cruz for the receivers first touchdown of the season.

New York’s rushing attack looked stellar against the Texans, as Rashad Jennings was able to run for 176 total yards on 34 carries.

The Giants have won 6 of their past 8 games in Washington but I personally don’t feel they will get the job done tonight.

Washington just has to many threats on offense for the Giants in my opinion and Kirk Cousins will be looking to prove that he is the Redskins #1 arm, this in front of a sure to be amped-up home crowd.

Vegas currently has Washington pegged as a -4 point favorite.
