After news broke that Daniel Cormier was injured and would no longer be able to defend his UFC light heavyweight championship against Jon Jones at UFC 197, there was much speculation as to who the UFC would select as a fill-in opponent for Jones.

While initial reports were that the UFC had offered the fight to Anthony Johnson, he was unable to take the fight due to recently undergoing mouth surgery.

While on SportsCenter, UFC President Dana White announced that Ovince Saint Preux would be stepping in on short notice to fight Jones at UFC 197. In addition, it was announced that the fight will in fact be an interim title fight.

Saint Preux is 7-2 in his UFC career, with his most recent win coming by decision over Rafael Cavalcante. That win put OSP back in the win column after having his 2-fight wins streak snapped at the hands of Glover Teixeira.

With the new UFC 197 main event being Jones vs. Saint Preux, how do you see it playing out?

Former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion BJ Penn (16-10-2) will return to the octagon this summer when he squares off with Dennis Siver (22-11 MMA) in a featherweight bout at June’s UFC 199 pay-per-view event in Inglewood, California.

UFC officials just made the announcement.

“The Prodigy” will return to the octagon for the first time since losing to Frankie Edgar in the main event of the ‘TUF 19 Finale’ in July of 2014. The UFC Hall of Famer is looking to make a run at the promotions featherweight title. Thirteen of Penn’s sixteen career victories have come by form of stoppage (submission/KO).

Meanwhile, Dennis Siver was last seen in action at June’s UFC Fight Night 69 event, where he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Tatsuya Kawajiri. The 37-year-old has gone 3-3 with 1 no-contest over his past seven octagon appearances. Siver’s most recent win came over Charles Rosa via decision at UFC Fight Night 53.

UFC 199 takes place June 4 and is headlined by a middleweight title fight rematch featuring current champ Luke Rockhold defending his strap against former title holder Chris Weidman. In the evening’s co-main event, UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz will defend his title against bitter rival Urijah Faber.

Shogun Rua vs. Rashad Evans to headline UFC on FOX 19

Shogun Rua vs. Rashad Evans to headline UFC on FOX 19

A fight between two former UFC light heavyweight champions will headline April’s ‘UFC on FOX 19’ event, as UFC officials recently announced that Rashad Evans (19-4-1 MMA) has agreed to fight Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (23-10 MMA) in the evenings main event.

Rua and Evans were slated to fight four years ago at UFC 128, but a knee injury forced “Sugar” to withdraw from the proposed matchup.

Evans returned from a near two-year layoff at UFC 192 but unfortunately suffered a decision loss at the hands of Ryan Bader.

Meanwhile, Shogun was most recently seen in action at August’s UFC 190 event in Brazil, where he scored a decision victory over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

Since losing his UFC title to Jon Jones in March of 2011, Rua has struggled to find consistent success, going just 4-5 in his past 9 bouts.

Who do you think will win this battle of former champs?
