A featherweight number one contender’s bout will headline December’s TUF 22 Finale event in Las Vegas, as UFC officials announced that Frankie Edgar and Chad Mendes will square off on December 11.

Frankie Edgar (19-4-1 MMA) will be looking to extend his current win streak at five in a row when he faces “Money” in Sin City. “The Answer” was most recently seen in action at May’s UFC Fight Night 66 event, where he earned a unanimous decision victory over former WEC champ Urijah Faber. Prior to that, Edgar had posted victories over Cub Swanson, Charles Oliveira and MMA legend B.J. Penn respectively.

Meanwhile, Chad Mendes (17-3 MMA) will be looking to rebound, this after suffering a TKO loss to Conor McGregor at July’s UFC 189 event in Las Vegas. Prior to the setback, “Money” was coming off a first-round TKO victory over former title challenger Ricardo Lamas.

The TUF 22 Finale event will take place December 11 in Las Vegas. No venue for the event has been named at this time.

A key heavyweight bout will co-headline December’s UFC on FOX 17 event in Orlando, as UFC officials recently announced that former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos will square off with former Strikeforce title holder Alistair Overeem on December 19.

Alistair Overeem (39-14 MMA) will be looking to extend his current win streak to three in a row when he battles JDS in Florida. “The Reem” was last seen in action at March’s UFC 185 event in Dallas, where he scored a unanimous decision victory over Roy Nelson. Prior to that, Overeem was coming off a first-round knockout victory over Stefan Struve at the UFC on FOX 13 event in December of 2014.

Meanwhile, Junior dos Santos (17-3 MMA) will return to the cage for the first time in 12 months when he takes on “The Demolition Man” in Orlando.  “JDS” was last seen in action at UFC on FOX 13, where he earned a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over Stipe Miocic. “Cigano” has gone 11-2 during his UFC career, with his only two losses coming to Cain Velasquez.

UFC on FOX 17 takes place December 19 live from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The event is headlined by a lightweight title fight featuring current champion Rafael dos Anjos defending his title against number one contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.

A lightweight tilt between Nate Diaz and Michael Johnson is the latest addition to December’s UFC on FOX 17 fight card.

UFC officials announced the booking yesterday evening.

Nate Diaz (17-10 MMA) will fight for the first time in 12 months when he squares off with Johnson in Orlando. The Stockton slugger was most recently seen in action at the UFC on FOX 13 event in December of 2014, where he suffered a lopsided decision loss to now-lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. Nate Diaz has gone 1-3 over his past four fights, with his lone win in that time coming over Gray Maynard via first-round TKO.

Meanwhile, Michael Johnson (16-9 MMA) is coming off a controversial split-decision loss to Beneil Dariush, which occurred earlier this month at UFC Fight Night 73. The loss snapped a four-fight winning streak for “The Menace”, who had previously strung together victories over Joe Lauzon, Gleison Tibau, Melvin Guillard and Edson Barboza respectively.

UFC on FOX 17 takes place December 19 live from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The event is headlined by a lightweight title fight featuring current champion Rafael dos Anjos taking on number one contender Donald Cerrone.
