Joe Flacco is out for the season with a torn ACL‏!

Joe Flacco is out for the season with a torn ACL‏!

By: Chris Taylor (Kalapaki Joe’s Staff Writer)

The Baltimore Ravens (3-7) will be without the services of quarterback Joe Flacco for the remainder of the 2015 season.

Flacco suffered a torn ACL during last Sunday’s 16-13 victory over the St. Louis Rams.

This will mark the first time that Flacco has missed a game since being drafted by the Ravens in 2008.

Replacing Flacco as Baltimore’s starting quarterback will be former Houston Texans slinger Matt Schaub, who has not started an NFL game in 2 years.

Baltimore plays the Cleveland Browns (2-8) in Monday Night Football on November 30,  2015.

Mariota will not play Sunday against the Falcons!

Mariota will not play Sunday against the Falcons!

The Tennessee Titans (1-4) will be without the services of rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota when the team hosts the Atlanta Falcons (5-1) on Sunday.

Mariota suffered a knee injury (sprained MCL) in last week’s blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins and was unable to participate in any practices this week.

“He is frustrated because he wants to play.” Stated Titans head coach Ken Whinsenhunt.

Mariota’s injury came as the result of two roughing the passer penalties called on Dolphins defensive lineman Olivier Vernon.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Vernon was fined a total of $37,363.00 for his illegal hits on the young Hawaiian quarterback.

The Titans will now turn to second-year signal caller Zach Mettenberger for their Week 7 battle with the Falcons.

“I’m excited about the opportunity.” Stated Mettenberger.

The Titans will look to snap their four-game losing skid with a home victory this Sunday.

Colts vs. Texans Thursday Night Football Preview

Colts vs. Texans Thursday Night Football Preview

By: Chris Taylor (Kalapaki Joe’s Staff Writer)

The Indianapolis Colts (2-2) will travel to Houston this evening to battle the Texans (1-3) in Week 5’s edition of Thursday Night Football.

The Colts will be looking to earn a record-breaking 16th straight divisional win by upsetting the Texans tonight at NRG Stadium.

The only other team to win 15-straight divisional games since 1970 was the 1972-1973 Miami Dolphins.

Setting the NFL record for most divisional wins in a row will not come easy for the Colts, as Indianapolis is expected to be without the services of franchise quarterback Andrew Luck for a second-straight week.

NFL media insider Ian Rapoport reported this morning that backup QB Matt Hasselbeck is expected to start for the Colts this evening.

Hasselbeck led Indianapolis to a 16-13 overtime victory at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.

The veteran quarterback (Hasselbeck) completed 30 of 47 passes for 282 yards and a touchdown in the Week 4 win.

The Colts will need running back Frank Gore to have a big game if they want to pullout a road victory in Houston.

Gore has struggled this season, failing to earn a 100-yard rushing game in any of his first four attempts.

Last week against the Jags, Gore carried the ball 17 times for just 53 yards.

The Colts have been dreadful on defense this season, but that is mainly due to injuries.

Indianapolis sports a banged-up secondary which currently compliments the league’s 25th ranked run defense.

Luckily for the Colts, the Texans have been equally poor from an offensive standpoint through four games this season.

Houston’s quarterback situation is a mess, having started and benched both Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer this year.

Hoyer replaced Mallett in last week’s blowout loss to the Falcons, but Texans head coach Bill O’Brien says Mallett will once again start under center tonight against the Colts.

Mallett completed just 12 of 27 passes for 150 yards last week against Atlanta and also threw an interception before being benched in the games third quarter.

Houston will need running back Arian Foster to have a big game tonight in Texas, and given his history against the Colts that possibility is high.

Foster has averaged 120 yards a game in eight career contests against Indianapolis, and this year’s Colts defense may be the worst he’s seen in that time.

On defense, the Texans will be led by two-time defensive player of the year J.J. Watt, who was furious after the team’s Week 4 loss to the Falcons.

Watt has performed freakishly well against the Colts, in eight career match-ups J.J. has earned 9 sacks, 37 tackles and a forced fumble to his credit.

Las Vegas currently has Houston pegged as a -4 point favorite with the over/under set at 41-points.

I predict that the Texans will spoil the Colts bid to make NFL history by earning a 19-16 victory at home in Houston.
