Marcus Mariota dazzles in NFL debut!

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota had a spectacular NFL debut on Sunday in Tampa Bay against the Buccaneers.

The 2014 Heisman trophy winner went 13 of 16 passing, for 209 yards and 4 touchdowns, outshining rival rookie quarterback Jameis Winston in the process.

Mariota’s performance marked the first time since 1961 (Fran Tarkenton) that a rookie QB had thrown for four or more TD passes in his NFL debut.

The Titans (1-0) defeated the Bucs (0-1) by a final score of 42-14 on Sunday afternoon and Mariota’s performance was the talk of the NFL.

Meanwhile, the #1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Jemies Winston, had a forgettable first NFL regular season game.

Winston threw an interception for a touchdown on his first pass of the game and added a second pick before the game was done.

In the end, Winston went 16 or 33 passing for 210 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles.

Mariota and the Titans head to Cleveland to face the Browns (0-1) in Week 2 of the NFL regular season.

Terrell Suggs will miss the remainder of the season!

Terrell Suggs will miss the remainder of the season!

Bad news for Baltimore Ravens fans.

Star linebacker Terrell Suggs suffered a torn Achilles in yesterday’s loss to Denver and will now miss the remainder of the 2015 NFL season.

Suggs was carted off the field during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game.

The 32-year-old was coming off a terrific 2014 season, which saw him collect 61 tackles and 12 sacks.

Baltimore is now forced to move forward without Suggs, who was the clear team leader on the defensive side of the ball.

The Ravens (0-1) will travel to Oakland (0-1) to battle the Raiders in Week 2 of the NFL season.

Seahawks vs. Rams Preview

Seahawks vs. Rams Preview

The defending NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks will start their 2015 campaign on the road against the St. Louis Rams this Sunday.

The Seahawks head in to the game as -4 point favorites, but the Rams are a tough team, especially when playing at home in St. Louis.

Seattle boasts an incredible offense, which is led by star quarterback Russell Wilson. The Seahawks also have “The Beast” Marshawn Lynch at running back and arguably the league’s best tight end in Jimmy Graham.

On defense, Seattle is one of the NFL’s best and most feared squads. They are led by the play of their secondary, which has been dubbed “The Legion of Doom”. However, a key member of that unit, Pro Bowl safety Kam Chancellor has decided to continue his holdout in to this year’s regular season and will not play Sunday against the Rams.

Meanwhile, the St. Louis Rams will try and get over the hump this season and climb back in to one of the NFL’s coveted playoff spots.

The Rams have an excellent defense but they will have their hands full against the high-powered Seahawks offense this Sunday.

If St. Louis is to pull off the upset, they will need a strong performance from quarterback Nick Foles who is facing a crafty secondary in Seattle.

The former Eagles starter will have plenty of options to choose from tomorrow, including Kenny Britt, Tavon Austin and Brian Quick.

Unfortunately for Rams fans, rookie running back Todd Gurley is not completely healed from injury and will not be able to compete in tomorrow’s game.

This will be your typical hard hitting divisional game and there is no better way to kickoff week 1 of Sunday football.

I expect the Seahawks to pull off the win in a close battle by a final score of 13-9.

Eli Manning gets GIANT 4-year extension!‏

Eli Manning gets GIANT 4-year extension!‏

The New York Giants and quarterback Eli Manning agreed to a four-year $84 million contract extension on Friday morning.

NFL media insider Ian Rapoport was first to report the news, adding that the deal is expected to include $65 million in guaranteed money.

The deal is very similar to recent extensions given to Chargers QB Philip Rivers and Seahawks pivot Russell Wilson.

With his new extension, Eli ($21 million average) is now the third-highest-paid quarterback in the NFL, only trailing Aaron Rodgers ($22 million) and Russell Wilson ($21.9 million) respectively.

The 34-year-old has never missed a start in 11 seasons with the Giants and has earned two Super Bowl MVP Awards to his credit.

Last season, Eli threw for a total of 4,410 yards, with 30 touchdown passes against 14 interceptions.

The New York Giants open their season Sunday night on the road against division rival the Dallas Cowboys.
