The Pittsburgh Penguins are gearing up for a run at a third straight Stanley Cup!

The Pittsburgh Penguins have played more hockey over the past two years than any other team in the National Hockey League.

That is what happens when you win back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships.

The Penguins won their second-straight Stanley Cup last June when they defeated the Nashville Predators 4-2 in their best of seven playoff series.

Pittsburgh’s success can be largely contributed to their “three-headed monster” which comes in the form of Team Captain Sidney Crosby and Assistant Captains Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel.

All three players currently sit tied for fourth in league scoring with 66 points a piece.

Evgeni Malkin leads the team in goals scored with 32, which is also good for second spot in the league, trailing only Washington Capitals sniper Alexander Ovechkin who currently has netted 34.

The Penguins currently sit in second spot in the Metropolitan Division with 70-points and seem poised for another run at this year’s Stanley Cup Championship.

Pittsburgh has gone 8-1-1 over the course of their last ten games and seem to have found their groove just in time for their next playoff run.

The Penguins are hoping to become the first team since the 1983 New York Islanders to win three straight Stanley Cups.

Tampa Bay finished the season with a record of 50-24-8 and 108 total points, while the Chicago Blackhawks finished with a record of 48-28-6 and 102 points.

Tampa Bay on the other hand, has reached the Stanley Cup Finals due to their roster depth and overall team speed.

The Lightning will need sniper Steven Stamkos to play at his very best this series, this if they hope to stop the Blackhawks from becoming a modern day dynasty.

Tampa Bay’s goalie, Ben Bishop, has played very well during this year’s playoff run and will need to continue his hot streak against Chicago’s high-powered offense.

Meanwhile, Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford has also rebounded, this after being benched in the opening round of this year’s playoffs.
