The injury bug has struck again!

This time it’s former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis (18-3 MMA) who has suffered an elbow injury, which will force him out of his scheduled UFC on FOX 16 bout with Myles Jury (15-1 MMA).

The news was announced on Thursday night’s edition of “FOX Sports Live.”

According to the report, Pettis will undergo elbow surgery next Tuesday. No timetable has been given for his return.

Replacing “Showtime” against Jury will be fellow striking specialist Edson Barboza (15-3 MMA).

Both Barboza and Jury will be looking to rebound after suffering losses in their most recent efforts.

Jury suffered the first loss of his career to Donald Cerrone at January’s UFC 182 event.

Meanwhile, Barboza was most recently seen in action opposite Michael Johnson, whom he lost to at February’s UFC Fight Night 61 event.

UFC on FOX 16 takes place July 25 live from Chicago’s United Center.

The injury bug has struck again!

This time it’s June’s UFC Fight Night 69 event headliner that has taken the hit.

UFC officials announced today that Alexander Gustaffson has been forced out of his scheduled main event bout with former title challenger Glover Teixeira.

No word yet if a replacement opponent will be sought for Teixeira to keep him on the card in Berlin.

UFC officials did not give any additional information regarding Gustafsson’s injury.

A strawweight title fight featuring current champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk (9-0 MMA) taking on challenger Jessica Penne (12-2 MMA) will now headline the card.

Jedrzejczyk will make her first title defense since defeating inaugural strawweight champion Carla Esparza via second-round TKO at March’s UFC 185 event in Dallas. The 27-year-old Polish fighter has gone a perfect 9-0 in her young MMA career, which includes 4 stoppage wins to her credit.

Meanwhile, Jessica Penne was most recently seen in action at December’s TUF 20 Finale event, where she scored a hard-fought split-decision win over Randa Markos. Prior to her victory over Markos, Penne suffered a decision loss to Carla Esparza in the semifinal of Season 20 of “The Ultimate Fighter”.

UFC Fight Night 69 takes place June 20 live from the O2 World Berlin in Germany’s capital city. The entire event streams on UFC Fight Pass.

Jon “Bones” Jones is no longer the UFC light heavyweight champion of the world.

UFC president Dana White announced yesterday on FOX Sports 1 that the promotion has stripped Jon Jones of his UFC title, this after his recent arrest in New Mexico.

Jones was involved in a ‘hit-and-run’ this past Sunday morning, that left a pregnant woman in her 20’s with a fractured arm.

“Bones” now faces felony charges, which could result in as much as three years behind bars.

Jon Jones took to twitter yesterday to deliver the following message to his fans:

@JonnyBones: “Got a lot of soul searching to do. Sorry to everyone I’ve let down.”

Jones was expected to defend his title against Anthony “Rumble” Johnson at next month’s UFC 187 event in Las Vegas.
