A key women’s bantamweight bout has been added to July’s UFC on FOX 16 event in Chicago.

UFC officials recently announced that former Strikeforce champion Miesha “Cupcake” Tate (16-5 MMA) will battle Jessica “Evil” Eye (11-2 MMA) on the evenings main card.

Miesha Tate was last seen in action at January’s UFC 183 event, where she scored a decision victory over former Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann. The victory marked “Cupcake’s” third-straight win, with her two previous victories coming over opponents Rin Nakai and Liz Carmouche.

Meanwhile, Jessica Eye will be looking to build off her impressive showing at UFC 180, where she earned a TKO victory over Leslie Smith. “Evil” has gone 1-1 with 1 no-contest in the UFC thus far, losing a split-decision to Alexis Davis, while scoring a decision win over Sarah Kaufmann that was eventually ruled a no-contest after Eye tested positive for marijuana.

UFC on FOX 16 takes place July 25 live from the United Center in Chicago. The event is headlined by a bantamweight title fight rematch featuring current champ T.J. Dillashaw facing off with former title holder Renan Barao.

“Mr. Wonderful” took to twitter to announce his signing with UFC rival Bellator MMA:

Matt Brown vs. Nate Diaz no longer happening!‏

Last week we reported that a welterweight bout featuring Matt Brown taking on Nate Diaz had been added to July’s stacked UFC 189 card in Las Vegas.

UFC officials confirmed the news and even posted the fight to their home web page.

However, Nate Diaz quickly took to twitter to announce that he hadn’t signed a contract to fight Brown and was actually going to fight Anthony Pettis:

“Nah, I’m fighting Pettis!” Diaz wrote on his official twitter account.

Diaz has been known to joke about potential fights and contract signings, so at first we thought he was just ‘being Nate’.

However, last night Matt Brown took to his twitter and announced that the proposed contest is officially off:

Fight against @NateDiaz209 isn’t happening. I’ll update you guys soon as I get the word on opponent/date/ thanks for the support as always!”

Brown added:

“By the way I like watching Diaz fight lw’s I wish him the best of luck in the future and I’ll be watching every time he fights.”

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva (34-6 MMA) is currently waiting to receive his suspension from the NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission) for his failed drug test at January’s UFC 183 event in Las Vegas.

The longtime UFC middleweight title holder tested positive for anabolic steroids, while his opponent Nick Diaz ended up flunking for marijuana.

Despite their failed drug tests and pending suspensions, “The Spider” is already asking UFC President Dana White to set up a rematch with Diaz in his native Brazil:

“I believe that there is some things that are unfinished between me and Nick Diaz, I now hope that you, Dana White can accept my request and make a rematch possible in my county, Brazil.” Wrote Anderson on his official Instagram page.

No word yet from Dana White regarding a response to Anderson’s request.
