April’s UFC Nashville Fight Card is set!

The octagon will return to Nashville on April 22 for UFC Fight Night 108, a thirteen-bout fight card headlined by a featherweight tilt between Artem Lobov and Cub Swanson.

Cub Swanson is coming off a “fight of the year performance” at UFC 206, which saw him earn a decision victory over the “Korean Superboy” Doo Ho Choi. The win marked Swanson’s third-straight, as he had previously defeated Hacran Dias and Tatsuya Kawajiri.

Meanwhile, Artem Lobov is currently riding a two-fight win streak scoring decision victories over Chris Avila at UFC 202 and most recently Teruto Ishihara this past November.

The co-main event will feature the return of Al Iaquinta who will meet veteran brawler Diego Sanchez in a lightweight showdown.

Sanchez was last seen in action this past November where he earned a decision victory over Marcin Held. The former lightweight title challenger has alternated between wins and losses over his past five fights going 3-2.

Meanwhile, Al Iaquinta will return to the octagon for the first time since April of 2015, where he earned a split-decision victory over Jorge Masvidal. “Raging” is currently riding a four-fight win streak which includes wins over Joe Lauzon and Ross Pearson.

Also on the card is Knoxville product Ovince Saint Preux who will square off with Marcos Rogerio de Lima. “OSP” finds himself in desperate need of a win after dropping his past three fights in a row.

Report: Demian Maia vs Jorge Masvidal set for UFC Nashville

Report: Demian Maia vs Jorge Masvidal set for UFC Nashville

By: Chris Taylor (Kalapaki Joe’s Staff Writer)

Top UFC welterweight contender Demian Maia has opted to take another fight instead of waiting for the winner of next weekend’s UFC 209 main event title fight between Stephen Thompson and Tyron Woodley.

According to a report from Brazilian news outlet Combate, the submission specialist has agreed to square off with Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC Nashville on April 22.

UFC Nashville was originally expected to be headlined by a featherweight bout between Cub Swanson and Artem Lobov, but it appears that 145-pound scrap will have to take a backseat to this newly announced welterweight showdown.

Demian Maia

Demian Maia was last seen in action at UFC on FOX 21 in August of 2016 where he scored a first-round submission victory over former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit. That victory served as Maia’s sixth-straight and moved the Brazilian in to title contention.

Meanwhile, Jorge Masvidal is coming off arguably the finest performance of his career last month in Denver where he stopped surging division contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone with a second-round TKO win.

“Gamebred’s” victory over Cerrone served as his third-straight win and vaulted him up the welterweight standings.
