Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford earned “NFC Player of the Week” honors in Week 1 of the NFL season. As it turns out, that will be the only game he plays this year.

The Vikings announced Wednesday that they had placed the now veteran quarterback on the injured reserve.

The good news for Minnesota fans is the club has activated former starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

Bridgewater is coming off a gruesome non-contact knee injury that almost cost him his leg.

The Vikings currently sit at 6-2 on the season and have performed well under current starting quarterback Case Keenum.

The Astros may have won the World Series, but not all news is good in Houston, Texas.

The Houston Texans recently announced that they will be without the services of starting quarterback Deshaun Watson for the remainder of the 2017-2018 NFL season.

Watson suffered a torn ACL during practice on Thursday in a non-contact play.

“They say you never miss it until it’s gone and even though it’s not gone for long, I already miss it,” Watson said in a statement posted to Twitter on Friday. “Yesterday, I felt like I let my teammates, my fans and my family down. However, as a child of God, I understand that everything happens for a reason. He DON’T make mistakes!

“Today, the journey back seems far but I’ve been here before and will conquer it once again. I want to thank each and every one of my teammates for their unwavering support. My NFL brothers, thanks for all the prayers. To my fans, I cannot begin to express my gratitude for your relentless encouragement. To the countless others who have reach out, I am humbled and can only say thank you from the depths of my heart. I play this game for you all, and I am grateful for the love you have shown me, not only over the past 24 hours, but throughout this entire season.

“I promise that I will continue to work diligently so that this team can one day bring a championship to Houston, and when I return, I will be better, stronger and more focused than ever before! Now the grind begins…. #815 #Memo GODSPEED. A small thing to a GIANT.”

The Houston Texans (3-4) will be hard pressed to make the NFL playoffs without Watson.

The squad will no rely on Tom Savage to get the job done at pivot.

T.J. Yates will be promoted to backup quarterback.

Aaron Rodgers is still on the active roster of the Green Bay Packers.

The former NFL MVP, Rodgers, is currently awaiting surgery to repair a broken collarbone.

Rodgers suffered the injury during the Packers Week 6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

If Rodgers pending surgery is successful, the star quarterback could potentially return to the field later this season.

Green Bay currently sits at 4-2 in the NFL’s extremely competitive NFC North Division.
