A middleweight title fight between champion Chris Weidman and number one contender Luke Rockhold will co-headline December’s UFC 194 event in Las Vegas.

UFC officials announced the booking earlier today.

UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman (13-0 MMA) will return to the octagon for the first time since May’s UFC 187 event, where he scored a first-round TKO victory over Vitor Belfort. Prior to that, the “All-American” was coming off a decision victory over former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida, which occurred at UFC 175 in July of 2014.

Meanwhile, former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold (14-2 MMA) was last seen in action at April’s UFC on FOX 15 event, where he earned a second-round submission victory over Lyoto Machida. That victory marked Rockhold’s fourth in a row, as he had previously scored wins over Michael Bisping, Tim Boetsch and Costas Philippou respectively.

UFC 194 takes place December 12 live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The pay-per-view event is headlined by a featherweight title unification bout between champ Jose Aldo and interim title holder Conor McGregor.
