A clash between MMA superstars Nick Diaz and Anderson Silva could take place in the octagon according to UFC President Dana White.
Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (33-6 MMA, 16-2 UFC) has stated on record that he is interested in a fight with the Stockton Slugger, Diaz. “The Spider” has not competed inside the cage since UFC 168 this past December, where he suffered a horrific leg injury (broken leg) in his rematch with rating middleweight champ Chris Weidman.
Meanwhile, former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz (26-9 MMA, 7-6 UFC) has been out of action even longer than Silva. The California native was last seen inside the cage at UFC 158 in March of 2013, where he suffered a unanimous decision loss in his title fight with Georges St. Pierre.
When asked what he thought of the potential fight, UFC President Dana White stated the following:
“Anderson isn’t coming back until December,” White said. “It’s far enough that I don’t need to talk to him yet. If Anderson wants to fight Nick, and Nick wants to fight Anderson, why would I say no?”
