Game 1 of the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Finals takes place tonight in Tampa Bay, Florida.

This year’s finals will showcase the Tampa Bay Lightning taking on the Chicago Blackhawks with puck drop scheduled for 8pm EST.

Tampa Bay finished the season with a record of 50-24-8 and 108 total points, while the Chicago Blackhawks finished with a record of 48-28-6 and 102 points.

Tampa Bay advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals by defeating the New York Rangers in game seven of the Eastern Conference Final.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Blackhawks returned to the Stanley Cup finals for the third time in the past six seasons by defeating the Anaheim Ducks in game seven of the Western Conference Final.

Chicago has been led by the strong play of Captain Jonathan Toews, as well as contributions from All-Stars Duncan Keith and Patrick Kane.

Tampa Bay on the other hand, has reached the Stanley Cup Finals due to their roster depth and overall team speed.

The Lightning will need sniper Steven Stamkos to play at his very best this series, this if they hope to stop the Blackhawks from becoming a modern day dynasty.

Tampa Bay’s goalie, Ben Bishop, has played very well during this year’s playoff run and will need to continue his hot streak against Chicago’s high-powered offense.

Meanwhile, Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford has also rebounded, this after being benched in the opening round of this year’s playoffs.
